Geonoma elegans is a small palm endemic to the Atlantic Forests of Brazil from Bahia to Santa Catarina; at 250-800 m asl. Up to 3 m tall, with cane-like stem; leaves undivided or irregularly pinnate; unbranched inflorescence with staminate flowers; fruits 10-12 mm long.
